Use of AI in different industries

I’m sure you must have heard about Self driving cars and robots. And you must have used virtual assistance on your smartphone. But there is something general between them. Can you guess? Yes, they all work on the same technology. And that is Artificial Intelligence, or AI for short.

However, these are not the only applications of AI. You must have also heard about automation. And it won’t be wrong to say that AI is the driving force behind that too. But what exactly is Ai? Let’s look at it.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is an arm of computer science. It focuses on developing intelligence in machines similar to humans. The goal is to make the machines capable enough that they can make decisions without any human intervention. AI focuses on replicating human capabilities like reasoning, learning, planning and creativity. So that machines can perform tasks independently that require human supervision.

Power of Artificial Intelligence

AI is gaining popularity among scientists and engineers. And the reason for this is that AI is seen as the next big thing. Something can revolutionise the way we live.

Artificial Intelligence was developed 50 years ago. However, earlier it was strictly restricted to computing. Today’s it is tested and used in various fields. And its significance is increasing every day. And the reason for this is that AI can solve complicated problems very efficiently. This is very important, especially for industries like defence, education, healthcare, finance and entertainment.

AI is used in essentially two forms that are software and In-built. Let’s see some examples of the same.

  • Software — virtual assistants, image analysis software, search engines, speech and face recognition systems
  • In-built — robots, autonomous cars, drones, Internet of Things

People often see Artificial Intelligence as a single category. However, there are multiple categories of AI. Let’s understand each of these.

Categories of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence works at three different levels. These are

  1. Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI)

ANI is the most basic form of Artificial Intelligence. It is used to perform one task at a single time. For example, recommending a product for an e-commerce user or predicting the weather.

2. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

This form of AI is still in the development phase. And it is at a similar level to that of the human-level of cognitive function. AGI focuses on tasks like language processing, image processing, computational functioning and reasoning and so on.

3. Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI)

ASI can be viewed as the highest level of Artificial Intelligence. It has the potential to excel humans. And it focuses on complex operations like decision making or making rational decisions. And even includes making better art and building emotional relationships.

Now let’s look at the use of AI in our everyday life.

Common uses of AI

  1. Healthcare — AI is transforming the healthcare industry. It is making human diagnosis better, faster and accurate.
  2. Finance — Finance industry deploying AI for automation, chatbot, adaptive intelligence, algorithm trading, and machine learning into financial processes.
  3. Automotive Industry — There are two notable uses of AI in the automotive industry. These are manufacturing processes using robots. And in the development of self-driving cars.
  4. Social Media — Social media platforms have billions of people’s profile to handle. So AI is used to manage that data. It can analyse lots of data to identify the latest trends, hashtag, and requirements of different users.
  5. Digital Events — AI’s role is increasing in the digital or online event industry. Many virtual event platforms use several AI-based tools. To begin with, we have Chatbots, AI Matchmaking, face/voice recognition and so on.

Conclusion

The influence of AI is increasing rapidly in our lives. And Artificial Intelligence is developing continuously. So we can safely assume that we will see more applications of AI in our life.
